The Supervising Dentist is a part-time position reporting to the Dental Hygiene Program Director and is a liaison to the professional organizations, extensive public community, and outreach programs of which both programs are involved and will interact with students, faculty, and staff on a daily basis.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Maintain license and stay current in standards of clinic operation and clinic policies required by the ADA, accreditation and state guidelines to comply with OSHA Regulations, Dental Office Safety, HIPAA, SDS Book Guidelines, and Emergency Plans for patients and students.
• Responsible for patient care, student supervision and evaluation during Restorative Clinic sessions as needed. Restorative clinic provides limited basic treatment.
• Participate and collaborate in chair side lab as needed and prescribe and/or evaluate all radiographs for students of both programs.
• Work closely with dental hygiene clinical faculty and students in determining and applying comprehensive treatment plans for all patients.
• Collaborate as part of the dental education team through routine meetings with all clinic faculties to discuss clinic operation, student clinical requests, participate in medical records audits and review and provide feedback on students’ clinical performance.
• Examine patients for clinical signs and symptoms of soft and hard tissue pathology, compromising medical conditions, prescribe and evaluate diagnostic radiographs, or any other services that will aid the dental patient’s oral, medical, or dental health.
• Prescribe medications as needed by patients for fluoride therapy, antibiotic pre-medication, pit and fissure sealants, therapeutic agents, and others.
• Provide screening and read radiographs for dental hygiene student board patients.
